VerdexAir® Means Peak Data Performance
VerdexAir® Focused on Data
Your business is inherently complex – so bring clarity to your operations with filtration technology integrated for the needs of a data center. Our VerdexAir® solutions are designed to keep your data center operations running at peak performance.
Data Centers Need Healthy Air
Now more than ever, mission-critical data centers require high security and reliability. Indoor air quality plays a crucial role in keeping data centers, server racks and electronic components fully functional.
Particulate and gaseous contaminants pose a serious threat to this security. They can come from indoor sources, from people entering and exiting the building, and from outdoor ventilation systems. These contaminants can result in equipment downtime, complete failure or, in worst case, loss of data.
Corrosion of components due to dust containing sulfur-bearing gases
Obstruction of cooling air flow and deformation of surfaces
Electrical impedance changes, circuit failure and burnout, with the associated fire risk
The Problem with Data Center HVAC Units
Data centers are among the highest consumers of electric power.
Today nearly all the world's IP traffic goes through data centers. It is not just captured once. "For every bit of data that travels the network from a data center to end users, another five bits of data are transmitted within and among data centers," according to the International Energy Agency's "Data Centers and Data Transmission Networks" report released November 2021.
A data center is a energy-guzzling facility: with nearly 40% of energy going to its cooling systems to maintain a temperature-controlled environment, round the clock. Estimates further suggest that data centers account for up to 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Save Millions in Energy Costs
The life cycle cost of a filter can be broken down as depicted. The initial investment includes the capital cost of the filter, frame and installation, and contributes about 6%.
Further costs to be considered are maintenance cost, which represents the cost of replacement filters and labor, and cost to dispose of the used filters.
By far the largest cost contribution however, is the energy cost of the system necessary to power the fan, making up 76% of the total cost.
Energy consumption of a VerdexAir® Filter made from Verdex 3D nanofibers is approximately 40% lower than with a traditional HEPA filter of the same efficiency rating.
This energy savings directly translates into a 60% cost savings, allowing significant monetary savings potential for building installations requiring a multitude of filters.
Virus Free Buildings
In times of a pandemic, the regular filter set-up will no longer be sufficiently effective. Standard HVAC filters are not designed to safely capture viruses and bacteria.
VerdexAir® provides innovative Nanofiber HEPA level filtration that captures 99.9% of viruses.
Healthy Air can become a reality without major system changes or reconfigurations or downtimes.
